
Hurricane Ida
Hurricane Ida made landfall near New Orleans, Louisiana with 145 mph destructive winds, devastating local communities.
Hurricane Ida struck the coast of Port Fourchon, Louisiana on Sunday, August 29, 2021 (the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina), rated at a Category 4 storm with 145 mph winds, leaving a trail of devastation in its wake. Later, Ida's storm downpoured across the Northeast, heavily flooding New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania suburbs.
While its yet to be determined the full extent of the damage, all of New Orleans lost power on Sunday with many reports and photos of trees toppled and buildings destroyed. New York City and large portions of the Northeast experienced historic flooding.
