Must-Read

The New American Pioneers: Why Are We Afraid of Mexican Immigrants, Juan Hernandez

This book helps us begin a dialogue about immigration and the church.  The EFCA has historically been a church of immigrants.  When Norwegians and Swedes came to this country they were persecuted peoples.  Hispanics are the new Norwegians.  This book is just part of the journey in understanding the pain of Hispanic brothers and sisters, and one man’s explanation of why we need Hispanics in America.

This book helps us understand where the pain in the Hispanic community is coming from, but it does not provide a biblical response.  Our doctrine should inform our worldview.  We must formulate a biblical opinion on immigration. Read this book and read your Bible, and then let’s talk about a mission to the new Samaria among us!
