EFCA CONNECT Short-term missions
The ministry of EFCA CONNECT seeks to glorify God by serving and resourcing churches to help them fulfill the Great Commission.
One way EFCA CONNECT does this is by helping to coordinate short-term mission opportunities. We come along side of churches to assist and resource them to effectively send out short-term personnel for strategic ministry.
EFCA CONNECT seeks to network churches internationally and offer both individuals and teams meaningful "hands-on" participation in ministries linked with church planting efforts.
EFCA CONNECT provides high quality pre-field training for teams and team leaders, special resource materials, and coaching to help churches in long-term participation in ministry partnerships. For example: Click here to read about the Team Leader Training event that is offered regularly throughout the year.

Slovakia English family camp
Each year since 1998, the Evangelical Free Church of Naperville, IL, has sent a team to Nitra to teach English as the Nitra church plant's English family camp. This is one of the more important ministries for this small congregation in Slovakia.
Currently they need at least one more person to join the team, but ideally could use three. The need is for one extra person to help with the children's program, one perosn to teach English to adults, and possibly one to help with an English class for teens. If you are able to join the team, you will get all the training you need from the team and have the experience of seeing God raise up support through you.
The camp runs from July 19-26. The team leaves on July 15th and returns the 28th.
For more information, please contact the team leader at sgiere@comcast.net or (630) 983-3232.
Quebec Various opportunities
Villa de Brome is a Christian camp located in Quebec that provides a place where families can grow stronger and be filled with God's presence. It offers summer camps for kids, teens and young adults; a leadership program for counselors and campers; and family, men's and women's retreats. The camp is in need to short-term teams to help in various construction/maintenance projects and training programs. For more information on Villa de Brome and how to help, please contact Steve Wheeler at Steve.Wheeler@efca.org.
Asia
English conversations
God has recently opened the door for people to go to Asia for a short-term ministry with a long-term impact. Many people in Asia right now are hungering to improve their spoken English. They are eager to learn about the West--its people, its culture, its faith. They really want to just sit down and talk with people whose English is better than their own! This gives us a window of opportunity to speak truth to a confused world. Anyone can participate in this ministry...that is, anyone who loves people and is willing to have a conversation!
This opportunity is open to teams of about six people. Dates are flexible throughout the year. The cost is about $1,500 for airfare and $50 per night at a hotel. For more information, contact Dr. Quentin Washispack at doctorqjw@gmail.com or (501) 514-4600.
Opportunities for Individuals
Shamineau International Camps Beginning as an outreach of Camp Shamineau (established in 1914), Shamineau International has been sponsoring English Language Camps and Outreach English Classes since 1993. Summer Camp is a phenomenon just beginning to catch on around the world. International summer camps offer a unique opportunity to reach youth through the English language, Sports, music, multimedia and more by bringing the American style of summer camp beyond borders.
Shamineau International is currently in two locations: Austria and Asia. To learn more about this opportunity or to access an application, go to www.shamineauinternational.com.
Camp Shamineau in Asia will conduct 25 weeks of English teachers' workshops in 2008. The conversational English workshops will take place at the camp where foreign volunteers and Asian teachers will live in community for one week. They will live in a comfortable lodge where they will eat, speak, sleep and build relationships. Volunteers will also be asked to share about daily life in the U.S.
This one-week immersion program will be required of all the area English teachers over a three-year period. In theory, each teacher will be required to spend one week at Camp Shamineau's English workshops for three consecutive years. The goal is to improve the teachers' oral competency while at the same time gaining a greater understanding of life outside their country.
If you would like more information about this opportunity, please contact Quentin Washispack at doctorqjw@gmail.com.
There are still needs to be filled for 2008 in Camp Shamineau in Asia!
