Institutional Chaplaincy

To become a chaplain in an institutional setting such as a hospital, Veterans Administration activity, Hospice facility, Long Term Care residence, Federal, State or County Correctional Facility, Municipal Departments, Civil Air Patrol, Educational Institution, Camp Grounds or other specialized setting such as auto race track, sports team, you must meet the institution's individual hiring or volunteer standards.  Each of the settings listed have different requirements and standards for employment or volunteer status.  As a minimum, you must be licensed by the EFCA to be eligible for endorsement.  Other standards such as ordination, graduate education, or Clinical Pastoral Education are at the discretion of the respective institution.  Institutional chaplaincy requires committed and trained personnel to meet the spiritual needs of our suffering communities.
