About Us A group of parish nurses from EFCA churches in Minnesota began to meet several years ago for support and encouragement. Soon, discussion led to how to help other EFCA churches grow their health ministries. A task force was formed and out of those meetings came the determination to establish an EFCA movement-wide Health and Caring Ministry. Elim Care Ministries, associated with EFCA in providing senior housing and healthcare, stepped forward to provide space on their website for our parish nurse information and donated additional support for this budding ministry.
In 2003 the EFCA National Leadership Team endorsed our new volunteer ministry and provided the necessary support. In 2004 Paula Lilja, RN, DNSc, took on the leadership for the National Health and Caring Ministries. Paula was a member of First Evangelical Free Church of Fullerton for 30 years and was a Community Health Nurse Educator/ Administrator for many years in home health and public health. Following professional training she became the Parish Nurse at her church. She recently moved to Seabrook, Texas.
